Halloween is just around the corner. I’m excited because I can finally use my white contacts! It’s hard to pull those off on normal days.
Seriously, though, white contacts are possibly the most versatile Halloween accessory you can have. They work with so many costumes. Still trying to figure out yours? Here are some spooky ideas to try.
DIY Ghoul

According to folklore, ghouls are demonic humanoids that eat people. What a ghoul looks like… that’s really up to you.
Many artists have imagined their own versions of a ghoul. Some are renditions that can give you nightmares. Others, like the ones in the popular Japanese manga series Tokyo Ghoul, can pass as human until it’s time to eat!
So, this Halloween, do your own ghoul. DIY it and see how creative you get with what you have!
No budget for an elaborate costume? No problem! A ghoul can take on any form. Select an old set of office attire, an old school uniform, or pajamas. Splatter some ketchup all over the clothes. Then, put in your white contacts and act like your best ghoulish self. It’s all about attitude!
Flying or Fallen Angel

An angel is a classic Halloween costume, and you have two great choices: a flying angel or a fallen angel. For a flying angel, select a clean and crisp all-white outfit, including wings and a tunic. Then, put in your white contact lenses to show that your eyes are filled with light!
If you decide to ham it up as a fallen angel, then maybe splash some mud over your white outfit. The eyes stay white, though, because your eyes are dilated from all of the excitement. You’re finally among people, and as you know, people can be wild!
Creepy Clown

Clowns are always nightmare-fuel, and they’re even scarier in real life. Imagine a man or woman wearing a full face of makeup that’s supposed to appear jolly and happy. But something is just a bit off about them.
White eyes intensify the creepy effect. Think budget-friendly Pennywise!
This is easy to put together. Get your white contacts ready. Buy clown makeup online or at a specialty store. And then, find yourself matching floppy shorts and a blouse. You’re all set!
Walking Dead Zombie

This Halloween, scare your friends and family by becoming a Walking Dead zombie. Yes, you need to be a Walking Dead zombie, not just any zombie. Those zombies turn the spook level up several notches!
Plus, a Walking Dead zombie has many categories, depending on the level of decay. You could be a new zombie. This means that you’re newly bitten and wearing your regular clothes. Maybe dye bits of cotton so they look like brain matter and stick them to your clothes. This is a budget Halloween look that works!
Or, if you can spare a few everyday clothes to cut up, become an older zombie, further into decay. This is a good idea if you don’t like to run around, going after every brain you see. White contacts amp up the scare level.
Sexy Scary Doll

Halloween is one of the best times for sexy costumes! But don’t go for the usual, like sexy cops or nurses. Nah, let’s do something better.
How about a Sexy Annabelle or M3GAN? You can even do a Sexy Chucky!
You need a little budget for this costume. The outfits of these dolls are distinct. While you don’t need to get them made specially, you’ll have to buy some items. You could target individual pieces and mix and match your blouse, skirt, and suspenders. This way, you can ideally reuse these clothes for normal days. Or, shops like Spirit Halloween sell ready-made Halloween doll outfits.
Your white contact lenses are perfect for these costumes. The white mimics the porcelain stares of these dolls.
Friendly Neighborhood Vampire or Witch

In pop culture today, there are many stories of vampires and witches that ‘blend in’ and join a human neighborhood. You could be a Westview witch or a Royal Street, New Orleans vampire, the best of these creatures.
Pick a side. Agatha Harkness vs. Wanda Maximoff. Purple flowing dress vs. pink/red body suit and cape. When agitated, the eyes of these witches dilate and become almost white. White lenses are perfect!
The vampires Lestat and Louis sit and wait for their prey in their tasteful suits. However, their hunger is betrayed by their eyes, which are white and dilated. Chilling!
If you’ve got a budget, these Halloween costumes are worth it and will turn heads!
The Possessed Nun or The Possessed Everyday Man/Woman

Depicting demonic possession is always scary, as the movie The Nun made clear. However, the great thing about a possession-themed Halloween costume is that you don’t have to be a nun to be possessed. Sure, you could go as Valak from The Nun. Expect to shell out around $60 for the outfit.
If you’re on a budget, though, you can do possession with whatever spare costume you have. If you came as a sexy cop last Halloween, you can come as a possessed cop this year! Or, if you were a witch last year, you can come as a possessed witch this year!
The gamechanger: white contact lenses. These evoke demonic possession, regardless of what outfit you wear.
The Devil Is in the Details

Finally, the coup de grâce on my Halloween costume list: the Devil in the Details.
This is a fun outfit that you can put together with your friends and family. It’s like a scrapbook costume with your red suit and cape as your blank canvas.
The fun part is the details. This could be anything and everything that’s going on in your life right now. Got an A in math? Stick the document onto your cape. Love Pokémon? Put your favorite ones on your suit! Have your friends write messages on your red cape. Include your grocery list, to-do list, Spotify top 10 songs, and more!
The white lenses? That’s the spooky part. The rest is all about fun! I bet you’ll get stopped by curious onlookers!
TL;DR
- White contact lenses are possibly the most versatile accessories you can have this Halloween.
- You have several costumes to choose from, including Ghoul, Angel, Zombie, Clown, and more.
- Vary the usual by creating your own spin on these costumes, such as a sexy scary doll, a DIY ghoul, and the Devil is in the Details.
- Some outfits just need white contacts to amp up scare levels. Use clothes you already have.
- Other costumes, such as elaborate witch, vampire, and doll outfits, need a budget. Buy your costumes ahead of time at shops like Spirit Halloween.
