Hubble Contacts offers affordable sunglasses. They only sell their own brand of sunglasses, which all have celestial names. The sunglasses all start at $59.99 if you get non-prescription lenses.

If you add prescription or reading lenses, though, it’s an extra $40. This means, if you get your Hubble sunglasses with prescription lenses, your total for any pair of sunglasses will be $99.99.

EZContacts, on the other hand, has many stylish sunglasses that cost less than Hubble Contacts’ offerings. This includes this pair from Fossil.

Need to add prescription lenses? There are options available starting from $39.95. This means that overall, these stylish sunglasses will cost you less than Hubble’s offerings.

After adding in prescription lenses and choosing a lens color, the total for these prescription EZContacts sunglasses is $84, saving you $15 on your purchase, or about 15%.

That’s just one of the great options at EZContacts that cost less than Hubble’s sunglasses! There are also these stylish Arnette sunglasses.

Or, if you’re looking for classic black sunglasses, try this pair from Under Armour.

Comparing Eyeglasses

Hubble Contacts’ eyeglasses are also all the same price. The glasses all start at $49.99.

You can also add on blue light filtering lenses for $40. In addition, they offer 1.67 high-index lenses for $30.

At EZContacts, there’s a range of glasses available at Hubble’s price or lower. This includes affordable pairs from the brand Wiliwili.

There are also many inexpensive yet stylish options from the brand Peachtree.

Once you add in premium standard plastic lenses, the price is similar to Hubble’s offerings.

EZContacts also offers blue-light filtering for $40. However, EZContacts’ 1.67 high-index lenses cost $79.

Who Wins

EZContacts wins this round. Hubble Contacts’ own-brand sunglasses and glasses are inexpensive, but their styles are limited. It’s easy to get better deals on a wide variety of styles on EZContacts. 

EZContacts also offers a robust loyalty program and more savings on subscription contact lenses. In addition, it’s easier to use insurance with EZContacts.

Comparing Contact Lenses

Hubble offers a good deal on your first pair of contacts. You get 35% off on your first order. After that, though, their contacts are generally either around the same price or more expensive than the contacts available at EZContacts. 

Let’s take ACUVUE OASYS with Hydraclear Plus as an example. Your first set of six lenses will cost you $35.84 per eye. But note that after that, it will cost $54.99 per eye.

Over at EZContacts, the same contacts are offered at $46.95. 

And if you hit the ‘Subscribe and save an extra 10%’ button, you get even more of a discount. Now, they’re not much more than the contacts at Hubble, even with their first-time buyer discount.

Other Important Price and Value Considerations 

Contact Lens Subscriptions

EZContacts and Hubble Contacts both offer contact lens subscriptions. However, the value they offer differs. 

Hubble Contacts offers an enticing introductory deal. As mentioned, you can get 35% off on your first order of any contacts. They also offer $1 contacts on your inaugural order of their own brand.

After that, the savings stop. Even with an automatic subscription, you’re just getting the price they list on their website.

Hubble Contacts says it’s easy to cancel their subscription at any time. In practice, though, many customers have found that canceling a subscription can be very difficult. We’ll discuss that more in the customer review section.

With EZContacts, you always get 10% off your contact lens orders with a subscription. If you want to change your subscription, simply log in to the website and go to the “Subscriptions” tab to edit your next shipment date, quantity, and frequency. If you decide you want to end your subscription, just email help@ezcontacts.com with your order number to request a cancellation.

EZPoints Loyalty Program

EZContacts’ loyalty program can help save you money as you buy new eyewear. With this program, you earn one EZPoint for every $2 spent on sunglasses, eyeglasses, or contact lenses. After you accumulate 250 points, you will receive an email with a $25 coupon toward your next purchase at EZContacts.

Hubble Contacts, on the other hand, doesn’t offer any type of loyalty program.

Using Insurance at EZContacts vs. Hubble Contacts

Hubble Contacts doesn’t work directly with insurance providers. To use insurance with Hubble, you’ll first have to pay for your order with your debit or credit card. Then, you can use the receipt provided to apply for a reimbursement from your vision insurance company. This whole process can take a good amount of time.

It’s easier to use your insurance at EZContacts. EZContacts accepts most vision insurance. You’ll need to follow the same process as Hubble initially and use your own credit card to pay for the product. However, the difference is that EZContacts will file the claim with your insurance company on your behalf.

In addition, you can use funds from a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for eligible prescription eyewear purchases. 

Price-Matching

EZContacts offers a 105% price-match guarantee. This means if you find a product at a lower price at a competitor’s store, EZContacts will match it. Hubble Contacts doesn’t offer a similar service.

Who Wins

EZContacts wins this round. Hubble Contacts’ own-brand sunglasses and glasses are inexpensive, but their styles are limited. It’s easy to get better deals on a wide variety of styles on EZContacts. 

EZContacts also offers a robust loyalty program and more savings on subscription contact lenses. In addition, it’s easier to use insurance with EZContacts.

Frame & Lens Selection

Number of Products and Brands at Hubble Contacts

Hubble Contacts only sells its own brand of eyeglasses and sunglasses. They have about 20 models of eyeglasses, and they have 15 sunglass models. They also have five kids’ models of eyewear.

Overall, there isn’t that much variety in their eyeglass and sunglass styles. They have models with round, oval, and rectangular frames, but the differences are subtle.

They fare better with colors and patterns; they have a variety of options to choose from there, including bold colors and patterns. Overall, though, the choices you have at Hubble Contacts are limited.

For contact lenses, Hubble sells both its own brand and offerings from other major brands. However, again, their collection is limited. 

They have four types of contacts from their own brand. In addition, they have around 18 contact lens options from major brands, such as Johnson & Johnson, Bausch & Lomb, and BioTrue. This includes top-sellers like ACUVUE OASYS, Bausch & Lomb ULTRA, and Biotrue ONEday.

Hubble also sells a few eye care accessories, such as lens wipes, eye drops, and eye compresses.

EZContacts has far more variety than Hubble Contacts. They have thousands of eyeglasses and sunglasses available.

EZContacts has eyewear available from over 300 top brands. This includes popular brands like Oakley, Ray-Ban, Prada, Kate Spade, and many more. There are options for men’s, women’s, and unisex sunglasses. They come in a wide variety of styles, patterns, and price points.

There are currently over 5,000 sunglasses available at EZContacts.

There are over 7,500 glasses available.

There are also 125 contact lens options to try out. From ACUVUE to Eiyan to Alcon, you’ll find all the major brands at EZContacts.

Who Wins

EZContacts wins this round. Hubble Contacts offers a limited number of sunglasses and eyeglasses from its own brand, and the designs are all very similar. They also have a much smaller selection of contact lenses than EZContacts.

Shipping & Handling

Hubble Contacts Shipping Times

Hubble Contacts offers shipping within the United States and its territories, including Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and military APO/DPO/FPO addresses. International shipping is not currently available.

Hubble charges a flat $3.99 shipping & handling fee per delivery for contacts, plus sales tax. Shipping is free for glasses, sunglasses, and other eyecare accessories.

Hubble Contacts typically ships in 5-7 business days with USPS. Your first order may take longer than this if you’re ordering prescription lenses; it will typically take around 1.5 to two weeks. This is because Hubble needs to contact your doctor to verify your prescription. They’ll keep you updated about your order via email and through the customer portal on their website.

It’s also important to note that Hubble doesn’t offer any expedited shipping options.

EZContacts Shipping Times

With EZContacts, orders that are placed before 2:00 p.m. EST will be processed that same business day. If you’re ordering prescription lenses, it will typically take around three to five business days for your custom lenses to be made in EZContact’s optical lab. 

EZContacts offers free shipping on all orders in the U.S., including contact lenses.

If the item you want to buy isn’t in stock, it may take a couple of extra days. To ensure the item is in stock, look for the green checkmark next to it.

Who Wins

It’s close, but EZContacts wins. The fact that they offer expedited shipping and free shipping on all products, including contact lenses, pushes them over the edge for the win.

Return Policy & Warranty

Hubble Contacts Return Policy

Hubble offers a ‘love it or we’ll cover it’ return policy. You can return any unopened contact lenses. You can also return opened boxes of sunglasses or eyeglasses within 14 days of buying. Note that shipping and handling fees are not refunded. They also have a $5.00 restocking fee.

Hubble will give you a prepaid mailing label. To initiate your return, simply contact customer service by chat, phone, or email.

Hubble’s return window is on the shorter side. If you have a busy day-to-day life, 14 days may not be enough time for you to get over to the post office to return your eyewear.

Also, note that Hubble doesn’t offer a warranty policy. If you don’t return your item within 14 days of opening, there’s no way to get your money back.

EZContacts Return Policy

EZContacts offers a 30-day return policy, twice the time Hubble offers. 

Contact lenses must be returned unopened. Frames can be returned after being opened, though. They just must be returned in their original packaging along with authenticity papers, warranty cards, case, and cloth.

It’s easy to start the return process on EZContacts. Simply log in to the site and click ‘Start Return’ next to your order details. Or, you can head to the returns and exchanges page and put in your order number and email address.

Note that return shipping isn’t covered, except in the case of defective products or discrepancies. However, there’s no restocking fee if you return your item within 30 days. 

After 30 days, when your eyewear is no longer covered under EZContacts’ warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty will apply. Depending on the specific product you order, your eyewear will typically be protected for one to two years. All the details will be on the warranty card that comes with your product.

Hubble Contacts Customer Support 

Hubble Contacts has an online chat portal that’s available 24/7. In addition, you can email them at help@hubblecontacts.com. You can also call them at their customer support number, which is available seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (excluding federal holidays). 

Hubble also has a customer portal that’s easy to navigate and includes your account information, order history, prescriptions, and upcoming deliveries. In addition, they have an FAQ page that answers a variety of questions about their products. 

It is good that Hubble has so many different ways to get in contact with their customer service. However, many customer reviews flagged issues with the customer service. They say that Hubble’s customer support is unresponsive. One user wrote:

“Worst experience ever!! Don’t waste your time! I waited over a month calling in two different times only to find out they couldn’t use my current prescription and then the eye exam they sent would not work either.”

Many other reviews echo this sentiment. Some say that Hubble’s customer service was unresponsive or that they didn’t properly verify prescriptions with doctors, leading to customers getting the wrong contacts.

EZContacts Customer Support

EZContacts U.S.-based customer support includes a FAQ page, a phone number, and an email.

Phone lines are typically staffed Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET. Live chat is available during business hours. Most emails are usually answered within 24 hours.

EZContacts also offers some helpful tools for customers, including insurance documentation and Rx verification assistance. Overall, customers are happy with EZContacts’ customer service. One customer left a review on Trustpilot saying:

“The price for the particular monthly eye contacts is the best in the market. A good customer service and many options for delivery depending on how fadt you need the product.”

Who Wins

Hubble Contacts just edges out the win with their longer phone hours and 24/7 chat portal. However, EZContacts does provide extras for its customers, such as insurance verification.

Hubble Customer Reviews

Hubble has a lot of negative reviews, particularly for their own brand contact lenses. They have 3.8 stars on Trustpilot and one star on Consumer Affairs’ website. Many reviewers called out Hubble’s subscription service in particular. Jon wrote:

“I’ll never order contacts from these people again. Ordering contacts was difficult. They enrolled me a subscription and I was not aware and when I tried to cancel, I got three emails from customer service. They wanted to confirm my email address when I asked to close my account. And yet they were sending me emails. WTF.”

Jared said that he signed up for a trial and was automatically subscribed to the contact lens service:

“I signed up for their $1 offer for a 30 day trial and they automatically started a subscription without me knowing. The only way I knew was when I got a $128 charge on my credt card for 3 months. I complained and they did send me a return sticket for the mail but wouldn’t refund the shipping fees. I tried to contact them and they won’t get back to me now. They are HORRIBLE contacts. They are difficult to get it and move around a lot. I find they don’t ‘set’ properly and cause a lot of irritation. 100% do NOT recommend!

Representatives from Hubble did respond to many of these reviews, showing that they’re working on resolving these issues. However, negative reviews are still continuing to come in.

I chatted with a helpful and friendly associate who helped me with the process. I always receive a great value when shopping with EZContacts, and I have recommended this company recently to several family members and friends.”

They are also missing some key features on their website. They don’t offer virtual try-on. You’ll also have to upload your prescription manually onto the site.

EZContacts’ Website

EZContacts’ website is straightforward to use. Their category-based navigation makes it easy to browse by brand, frame shape, or lens type.

As you’re searching for eyewear, you’ll see tons of options for filtering. This includes by brand, by gender, by frame size, and much more.

EZContacts also offers quick re-order and Rx Uploads to streamline purchases and make prescription management easy. 

In addition, EZContacts’ mobile site is streamlined and simple to use. They offer a responsive display, and you can pay with Apple Pay.

EZContacts also has a Fittingbox virtual try-on feature that allows you to see what your new glasses look like on you without leaving your home.

Hubble Contacts wins this round with their sleek website. However, one of the reasons why their website is so sleek is that they have so few products in their inventory. EZContacts’ inventory is much larger, which naturally means their website is more complex.

In addition, Hubble is missing some useful features that can be found on EZContacts, such as a virtual try-on option.
