Who wins in the battle between For Eyes and EZContacts? 

I looked through both stores, checking their prices, selection, shipping times, return policy, customer reviews, and more. I then compared them to get a clear idea of who comes out on top.

We’ll begin by looking through the value and pricing offered at each store. We’ll take a look at their eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses.

For Eyes and EZContacts both sell eyewear from major brands. However, EZContacts has lower prices on many of these items.

Comparing Sunglasses

EZContacts has a variety of sunglasses that are cheaper than For Eyes’ offerings. At For Eyes, the cheapest sunglasses available are currently $43.

At EZContacts, there are options starting from $11.

For Eyes and EZContacts also sell many of the same pairs of sunglasses. When you look at them side by side, prices are generally lower at EZContacts.

Another issue with For Eyes is that many of their eyewear products are only available in-store. This can be frustrating if you don’t live near a For Eyes location.

For example, the Ray-Ban Wayfarers can only be bought in-store.

You can easily get the same pair online at EZContacts, and at a lower price, too. By buying at EZContacts, you’ll save $34, or about 17%.

Comparing Eyeglasses

For Eyes and EZContacts both sell glasses at a wide range of prices. There are frames available starting at $16 at For Eyes.

However, on EZContacts, there are options starting at around $4.

For Eyes offers cheaper basic lenses than EZContacts. For Eyes’ basic lenses are $25, while EZContacts’ lenses are $39. However, since many of the frames are cheaper at EZContacts, their glasses with lenses often end up being less expensive.

Comparing Contact Lenses

For Eyes offers 30% off on contacts for first-time buyers. However, after that, their contacts generally cost more than EZContacts’ contact lenses.

For example, take the Biofinity Toric contacts. For your first order, you’d get them for $55.29 from For Eyes. However, after that, you would have to pay $78.99.

At EZContacts, these contact lenses cost $74.95. You can then save even more if you sign up for the contact lens subscription.

Other Important Price and Value Considerations 

Contact Lens Subscription

EZContacts has a contact lens subscription. With this program, you’ll get 5% to 10% off your contact lens order. 

If you want to change your subscription, simply log in to your EZContacts account and go to the ‘Subscriptions’ tab. There, you can edit your quantity, next shipment date, and frequency. You can also easily cancel if needed.

For Eyes doesn’t have a similar subscription service for its contact lenses. This means that, in the long run, it’s easier to save money on contact lenses at EZContacts.

Loyalty Program

Along with their subscription program, EZContacts also has a loyalty program called EZPoints. With this program, you can earn one EZPoint for every $2 you spend on contact lenses, sunglasses, and eyeglasses.

Once you reach 250 points, you’ll get an email with a $25 coupon toward your next purchase at EZContacts.

For Eyes doesn’t have a similar loyalty program.

Price-Matching 

EZContacts offers a 105% price match guarantee. After you buy a product from EZContacts, if you find it at a lower price at a competitor’s store, EZContacts will refund you the difference plus an additional 5%.

Insurance

For Eyes accepts most major U.S. vision plans on their online store, and they also accept Medicare Advantage. To use your benefits to buy eyewear online, you’ll need to call For Eyes’ toll-free number or email their customer service. Or, you can buy your eyewear using your own credit or debit card and then submit a claim with your insurance company.

EZcontacts is an out-of-network eyewear retailer. This means you can use your out-of-network benefits at EZContacts. To begin, you’ll pay for your eyewear using your own credit or debit card. Then, you’ll get a reimbursement from your insurance company.

But don’t worry, EZContacts will help you with this! Fill out this form, and EZContacts will reach out to your insurance company to start the reimbursement process.

For Eyes has just about 30 brands available for eyeglasses. They have around 800 products in total.

Compare that with EZContacts, who have hundreds of brands available. There are also over 6,000 eyeglasses on the site.

EZContacts wins this round with their much larger and more varied inventory. Along with having more products in general, all of EZContacts’ products are available online. This makes it more convenient to shop there.

Shipping & Handling

For Eyes Shipping Times

For Eyes offers shipping within the United States. They use USPS for all of their prescription eyeglasses. For contact lenses, orders are shipped directly from their distributor using UPS. 

Their shipping times vary based on the product you order. Contact lenses that are in stock are typically shipped out within one business day. Those that are not in stock are shipped within two to five business days. Once your order has shipped, you’ll usually receive it within one to three days.

Prescription glasses can take a bit longer, depending on your specific lenses and prescription. They’ll typically be shipped out within two to five business days, and you’ll usually receive them within 10 business days.

Once your order is shipped out, For Eyes will send you an email with tracking information. You can also check the order status on your For Eyes account.

For Eyes offers free shipping on all orders. They don’t have any options for expedited shipping, though.

EZContacts Shipping Times

At EZContacts, orders placed before 2:00 p.m. EST will be processed that same business day. In-stock contacts will typically ship out within one to two business days.

For prescription eyeglasses or sunglasses, allow three to five business days for your custom lenses to be made by EZContacts’ optical lab. Once your order is ready, it will be shipped with USPS Standard, and it will typically take five to seven days to reach you.

If an item you want isn’t in stock, it could take a couple of extra days to reach you. To ensure the item is in stock, look for the green checkmark next to it.

EZContacts offers free shipping on all USPS Standard orders. If you’d like to get your order quicker, you can also choose expedited shipping for an additional fee.

EZContacts wins this round with their shorter average shipping times. Plus, EZContacts offers expedited shipping, while For Eyes does not.

Return Policy & Warranty

For Eyes Return Policy

For Eyes has a 30-day return policy for both online and in-store purchases. If you’re not satisfied with your product for any reason, you can return it free of charge. 

To begin the return process for an online purchase, you’ll need to send an email with your name and order number to For Eyes’ customer service email. A representative will then reach out to help process your return.

If you bought your item in-store, you’ll have to return it to the store. You can’t do online returns for these items, which can be frustrating.

When you bring the product back to the store, you’ll be given two options. You can get a full refund on the item. Or, you can exchange it for another product in For Eyes’ inventory. If the replacement product is more expensive, you’ll have to make up the difference. If it’s less expensive, For Eyes will refund you the difference.

For Eyes also has a 30-day progressive glasses adaptation warranty. If you buy progressive glasses and find that you’re having difficulty adjusting to them, For Eyes will provide two free lens refits with replacement lenses of equal or lesser value. If you still find the progressive glasses aren’t working for you after the refits, you can return them for a refund.

They also offer a pair protect one-year warranty. This costs $35, and it can be added to any pair of glasses. With this warranty, if your eyewear breaks, you can pay just 25% of the retail price to replace it.

In addition, if a doctor determines that you require a change of prescription within 90 days of the eye exam used to place your order, For Eyes will provide a one-time free lens replacement.

EZContacts Return Policy

EZContacts also has a 30-day return policy for all items. Contact lenses must be returned unopened, but eyewear can be returned after being opened. Eyewear must be returned in its original packaging along with its authenticity papers and any accessories included.

Return shipping isn’t covered except in the case of discrepancies or defective products. However, there’s no restocking fee.

Starting the return process is as simple as can be. Just log in to the website and click ‘Start Return’ next to your order details. Or, head to the returns and exchanges and put in your order details.

After EZContacts’ 30-day warranty is up, the manufacturer’s warranty will apply. Depending on the product, this will typically last for one to two years. All the details will be on the warranty card with your product.

For Eyes wins this round with their progressive adaptation warranty and change of prescription policy. However, the fact that you can return all your EZContacts products online makes them more convenient overall.

For Eyes Customer Service 

If you need to get in touch with For Eyes, they have a 1-800 number. Their phone lines are typically staffed Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. They also have a customer service email address you can use and a ‘Contact Us’ form on their webpage. They don’t have a live chat option, though.

Reviews for For Eyes’ customer service are mixed. One customer wrote:

“I had a very disappointing experience at Four Eyes in Coral Springs. I came in with a $300 insurance credit and was told that I could not take advantage of any sale prices. Even after choosing a closeout frame—which was not a sale item—I was told they still would not honor the reduced price.

In the end, despite having a $300 credit, I would have ended up giving them an additional $250 in profit and only receiving a $50 benefit from my insurance. The pricing practices felt completely unreasonable and not customer-friendly. I left extremely frustrated and will not be returning.”

EZContacts Customer Service 

EZContacts has U.S.-based phone support, and their phone lines are typically staffed Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST, excluding federal holidays. There’s also a live chat you can use. You can also contact EZContacts by email, and most emails are answered within 24 hours. In addition, there’s a robust FAQ page that may be able to answer many of your questions.

EZContacts also offers some extra help for customers. They provide Rx verification assistance, and they help with insurance claims.

EZContacts has many positive reviews about their customer service. One customer wrote:

“They didn’t measure my lens correctly the first times and I took them back to be replaced and picked them up about 10 days later and they still was not done correctly. I would not recommend!”

Another reviewer shared:

“Ordered contactsbon 10/26/24, still waiting. Called customer service 11/5/24 to inquire about order. I was told contacts were on back-order, but received no notification prior to ky call. I was told contacts would ship out on 11/7/24. I did receive an email on 11/7/2= saying order has shipped. As of Nov. 14th order still not received. For Eyes’ website has a simple navigation bar at the top of the page. It’s easy to navigate, and it features drop-down menus.

When you go to the eyewear pages, you’ll see there aren’t many filters to use. They only have filters for ‘Gender,’ Brand,’ ‘Price,’ ‘Color,’ and ‘Frame Shape.’

It’s the same story on the contact lens page. They only have categories for ‘Brand,’ ‘Lens Type, ‘Replacement Frequency, and ‘Price.’

They do have some advanced features, such as virtual try-on. However, you can only do virtual try-on with a select number of eyeglasses and sunglasses. Look for the ‘Try On’ button above the glasses to see if it’s available.

EZContacts Website

EZContacts’ website is also easy to navigate with clear categories and pages. However, EZContacts has far more filtering options on their eyewear and contact lens pages. 

On their sunglasses and eyeglasses page, you can filter by gender, frame color, frame type, brands, frame size, and frame dimension. You can also filter by price and reviews.

On their contact lens page, you can filter by brands, manufacturers, contact lens type, base curve, base diameter, and reviews.

EZContacts also has virtual try-on available through the Fittingbox app. In addition, their website is mobile-optimized, and you can use Apple Pay at checkout.
