If you’ve shopped for ACUVUE contacts recently, you may have seen them advertising their ACUVUE rebate. But what is this?

In a nutshell, the ACUVUE rebate is the same as the MyACUVUE® Rewards program. You get a rebate (or a partial refund) when you buy ACUVUE products as long as you have proof of purchase.

You need to sign up with ACUVUE to qualify. But should you bother? Let’s go into the details of this program and see if it’s worth it!

MyACUVUE® Rewards: How It Works

If you wear contact lenses to correct your eye condition, then you’ll naturally need to buy contacts often. With rebate or reward programs, like MyACUVUE® Rewards, you can at least get something back with your lens purchases.

MyACUVUE® Rewards is a program that gives you dollar credit whenever you buy ACUVUE products from partner retailers. You get your dollar rebate via your MyACUVUE® Rewards Mastercard, which you can then use to pay for future purchases.

How Do You Qualify for a Reward?

First of all, you have to be in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, or Singapore. You must purchase from ACUVUE directly or through a partner retailer.

Then, you need to sign up to be a member. Just go to the ACUVUE website and click on the Rewards button.

The registration form will request that you provide basic information, including your name and address. You also have the option to choose whether you’re a new user or a current user. Whatever you choose determines what reward you qualify for.

What Do You Get?

The actual rebate that you get is, unfortunately, not straightforward. Your ACUVUE rebate depends on what you buy, the quantity, and if you’re a new ACUVUE user.

If you’re a new ACUVUE user and you buy anything from the ACUVUE® Oasys 1-day family (both MAX and with HydraLuxe), you get a full $250 rebate if you get a year’s supply. A half-year supply gets you $100, and a three-month supply gets you $15. Your rebate is much lower if you’re a current customer ($100), and you only get this rebate if you buy a year’s supply.

If you’re a new user and buy from the ACUVUE® Moist family, you get a $150 rebate for a year’s supply and $50 for six months. If you’re a current wearer, you get a $100 rebate if you buy a year’s supply.

ACUVUE® Vita® and ACUVUE® Oasys 2-weeks will only get a new user a $100 rebate for a year’s supply and a $25 rebate for half a year. A current wearer gets a $50 rebate when they buy a year’s supply.

How Do You Claim Your ACUVUE Rebate?

First of all, make sure you are buying from an ACUVUE partner retailer. Ask them about MyACUVUE® Rewards, and they will walk you through the whole sign-up process, including the rebates you can get.

Then, once you’ve made your purchase, keep your receipt and take pictures of the products you bought. You will need to submit this online via your MyACUVUE® Rewards account. You’ll also need to include your name, the retailer’s name, photo proof, and the date of purchase. If you are a new user, you will also need to mail the actual receipt to the reward processing team in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

You must do all this within 60 days of purchase. Processing takes six to eight weeks. Once you’re approved, your MyACUVUE® Rewards Mastercard will be mailed to you. You can use your Prepaid Mastercard at any business that accepts Mastercard.

What Users Say About the ACUVUE Rebate Program

Sounds promising, no? I checked out what users say about the program, and it seems like a lot are complaining about the long-winded process.

On Reddit, filed under the r/mildlyinfuriating subreddit, user AlPCurtis complained about the last mail-in step:

“Acuvue offers a rebate when buying a years supply of contact lenses. After registering and verifying an email and mobile device, supplying a photo of the product, and submitting a copy of the receipt I reached the final step…”

Many Redditors chimed in to agree with AIPCurtis. One user said:

“They make it so hard so that most will give up before completing the stupid process. When I worked for Verizon(3rd party retailer) I had the rebate process down so I did everything the customer needed to do save a stamp and envelope. Never received any calls saying it didn’t work.”

Another user shared how they needed to continuously call and email to get their $100 gift card:

“Yes I got a $100 virtual the gift card. It was complicated. The original receipt I sent them in they said the product amount wasn’t there, so I had to email support then I showed them on the bottom left of the receipt. So I took a picture of it, printed it, sent it in. Call your doctor they should have a copy of your receipt. Regardless first receipt I submitted was the right one, whoever reviewed it didn’t look at the bottom left corner where the quantity of contacts I purchased was . I went to go pick mine up, and Acuvue let me just submit it online. After about a month, I finally got my $100 gift card. Continue to email and call them, they will try to deny your submission first. If not’s the original it’s fine, you can take a picture and print it out too.”

The best comment was by user Complex_Articles, who joked:

“’We received your receipt, please use this enclosed vial to submit a dna sample which we will then use to verify your identity’

‘Thank you, we received your dna sample. Please fill out this sheet with information on 20 of your closest friends who are not related to you for references,’

‘Your references all checked out, please fill out this 325 page questionnaire so we can begin processing your rebate.’

‘You now have Classified clearance with the US Department of Defense.’

No wait, wrong one. What were we talking about?”

From these reviews, it’s clear that the ACUVUE Rebate is hit or miss with its customers. It may leave you wondering, what are your alternatives?

Alternatives to the ACUVUE Rebate Program

Before you sign up forMyACUVUE® Rewards, let’s go through some other options. ACUVUE isn’t the only one rewarding its customers!

Competitor Reward Programs

Other brands run reward programs for their loyalists, too! For instance, Bausch + Lomb offers up to $300 yearly rebates for both their new and current customers. You also get a $300 rebate when you buy a year’s worth of Bausch + Lomb Infuse.

The great thing with Bausch + Lomb Lens Rewards is that you can choose your rewards. You can get coupons, gift cards, and even the opportunity to donate your points to a charity of your choosing.

CooperVision also offers its CooperVision Rebate program, which gives current users up to $100 in yearly rebates. You only need to sign up and send proof of purchase online to qualify—no need to send a physical copy of the receipt.

It’s the same with Alcon. Through their MyAlcon client website, you can access free trial packs and apply for rebates. New users can get up to $250 as a rebate, while current users can get up to $100 per year.

Alcon’s rebate program works similarly to CooperVision’s. Just submit your contact information and proof of purchase to https://myaccount.alconchoice.com within 60 days of your transaction. You can opt to submit by mail, too. Just get a rebate form from where you bought your Alcon contacts. Then, send the form and receipt to the specified address (the address varies by region).

Similar to the ACUVUE Rebate, you receive your Alcon rebate via your Alcon prepaid VISA debit card.

Online Eyewear Retailer Rewards

Online eyewear retailers, like Zenni Optical, Sunglass Hut, Executive Optical (EO), and EZContacts, also offer their own rewards programs.

Zenni Optical

Zenni Optical has its Loyalty Rewards Program. You can sign up and start earning points immediately. It’s a tiered program. The higher your tier (Fan, Friend, or VIP), the more points you earn for each dollar you spend.

Plus, you get other perks too, such as a birthday discount, free shipping and engraving, and a free Zenni-branded eyeglasses case. Points need to be used within 12 months of earning them.

The Sunglass Hut

The Sunglass Hut invites buyers to join its The Sun Club. You start earning points immediately after you sign up. Each dollar gets you 10 points.

Like Zenni, rewards and perks are tiered. The higher you go, the more club treats you qualify for. This includes a birthday offer, free fast shipping, exclusive products, tier welcome gifts, and branded luxury gifts. Points expire 24 months after earning them.

Executive Optical

EO has its Executive Optical Loyalty Rewards, which reward its users for purchases and other website engagements, such as reviews. Earned points vary depending on the purchase and online activity.

Rewards program signup is free. Once you have a rewards account, you begin to earn points. You can use points whenever you buy online on the EO site. Just click on the Redeem button in the upper section of the website.

EZContacts

EZContacts allows you to earn EZPoints with every purchase you make on the website. You create an account with EZContacts when you shop on the site. Simply plug in your email address and other basic details like your name and location. This is how you track your purchase.

With an account, you immediately begin to earn points. There’s no need to take photos of your receipt and purchases—those are already in the system. You’re rewarded with every purchase. Every $2 you spend gets a point. Every 250 points gets you a $25 voucher.

MyACUVUE® Rewards: My Honest Take

As someone who uses both contact lenses and eyeglasses, MyACUVUE® Rewards seems a bit limiting to me. The new user $250 rebate is generous, yes. That’s almost 20% of your money back when you buy a year’s supply. But then again, why limit this to new users? Shouldn’t loyalty be rewarded generously, too—especially when there are competitors like Bausch + Lomb that offer equal rebates to both its new and current customers.

I do appreciate ACUVUE’s Prepaid Mastercard. It’s like they’re saying, “Hey, take care of your eyes for a year, and we’ll pay for a week’s worth of groceries.” Nice!

But really, I’d rather accumulate points with online eyewear providers like Zenni, EO, and EZContacts because I earn and can use my rebates on all items, not just contacts. The Sun Club is nice too; I love the name. But then again, I don’t want to be limited to just sunglasses. You earn points faster through an all-inclusive program that gives you perks for all your eyewear purchases.
