Palm Angels is arguably one of the coolest streetwear brands out there. Between its interesting backstory and impressive growth, it’s no wonder that within a decade, it has become a favorite with celebrities and the cool kids.

The brand just signed a new deal with mega eyewear manufacturer Mondottica. Let’s see what’s in store for Palm Angels sunglasses.

What’s the Story Behind Palm Angels

Some brands have made fashion history; I’m talking about Chanel, Dior, and CELINE. These brands created the blueprint of luxury fashion so newer brands could follow in their footsteps. They walked so brands like Palm Angels could run.

Although not focused on fancy dresses and couture runways, Palm Angels has carved a name for itself. It was created in 2015 by Francesco Ragazzi, an Italian designer who was also the creative director at Moncler.

Ragazzi already knew his way around the fashion industry, and he decided to create a photobook documenting the skater culture in Los Angeles. The book quickly turned into a streetwear clothing brand.

The name was inspired by one of the photos in Francesco’s book. It showed a blond man mid-air on a skateboard under a grove of palm trees (sounds like a dream).

What’s the Aesthetic of Palm Angels?

It’s no surprise that the Palm Angels aesthetic is cool, edgy, slouchy, and rebellious. After all, it’s born out of L.A. skater culture. As you can imagine, there’s a lot of oversized shapes, baggy sweatpants, logo details, and an unlimited supply of attitude.

The colors are more subdued, dark, and moody, but it’s also a brand that doesn’t take itself too seriously, so you’ll see playful styles too. After all, they’re not trying to be Gucci or Chanel; it’s more about that skater persona than looking like a luxury model.

Palm Angel Sunglasses Are Unapologetically Cool

Palm Angels sunglasses stand out from other premium brands’ sunglasses because they feature unique, expressive designs. They showcase the brand personality well and infuse the street skater vibe with original color combinations, prints, mixed materials, and bold logo detailing.

Current Palm Angel Sunglasses

Their current sunglasses collection includes classic styles with a twist, such as the Artesia Sunglasses below. These sunglasses feature round lenses combined with a double-bridged design. The tortoiseshell frames add that extra retro touch.

One of the signature elements of Palm Angels sunglasses is their use of two-tone frames, as seen in the Melrose Sunglasses below. The color pops and gives off glam-skater energy.

In the current collection, some of the key styles feature a large logo on the frame. The tinted lenses of the Angel Sunglasses finish off the shades with that L.A. feel.

The New Mondottica x Palm Angels Deal

Mondottica is an eyewear manufacturer that’s been expanding and carving a niche out for itself. While it’s not as big as competitors like the EssilorLuxottica group or Kering, the group has, in a few short years, secured some major brand collaborations and licenses under its belt. It includes brands such as:

  • Maje
  • Karen Millen
  • Christian Lacroix

They’ve also just signed a partnership deal with another major streetwear brand, Off-White. So it seems that Modottica aims to work with premium, cool brands. It makes sense since the huge luxury houses, including Versace, Prada, and Gucci, are owned or partnered with LVMH, Kering, or EssilorLuxottica. So Modottica has a chance to be the manufacturer for the cool kids, including Palm Angels.

The CEO of Mondottica, Tony Pessok, said, “We are delighted that Palm Angels is joining our roster of luxury fashion brands at Mondottica Group. It is a very exciting time as we expand our elevated offering and begin working with one of the world’s most popular luxury sportswear brands. Palm Angels eyewear offers inclusive luxury for the next generation.”

This new partnership is a big move for a young brand like Palm Angels. In fact, it shows that they’re growing creatively and strategically, turning into a dominating streetwear brand that’s one to watch. It was acquired by Bluestar Alliance early this year, which is the same company that recently bought out Off-White.

So the streetwear market is in store for some shake-ups, new innovations, and maybe even big sales. These brands and skater styles are no longer about ‘90s cult fashion or reminiscing about the days of soft pop-rock bands. They’re reimagining the market with cutting-edge designs, big famous designers, and big company cash from the likes of Bluestar Alliance.

What’s in Store for the New Palm Angels Collection

Palm Angel Sunglasses

The new Palm Angels sunglass collection will feature a mixture of 20 acetate and metal designs. They’ll be unisex and come in five colors, so there’s variety.

One of the new main models is the ‘Angel’, a signature chunky black acetate front, which has wide on-trend arms. The other model is the ‘Imperial’, which has a gold square frame. The overall aesthetic doesn’t seem like it will deviate too much from the current style. Instead, it will be an upgrade featuring an injection of new ideas.

Palm Angel Eyeglasses

The collection of Palm Angel eyeglasses will include 18 models, available in both metal and acetate styles. The range will come in four colorways. The main styles are the ‘PA6001,’ featuring a matte black metal frame, and ‘PA5035,’ which will shine in green acetate.

The latest collection of eyewear will be released in January 2026 after its successful preview in Paris last month during Fashion Month.
