“Unfortunately, sunglasses are not helpful dealing with direct sunlight. It’s far too bright. That’s why you need special glasses to see an eclipse. The only option is to block the sun with the visor, a hat brim, or your hand if necessary.
Otherwise, the best you can do is a dark polarized lens, which you have with the Maui Jim Onshore.
That being said, for driving in general throughout the year, I absolutely recommend the Serengeti Drivers.”

They are almost the only ones that I can use perfectly when I go to the beach but they have two problems…

2. 5% VLT would not be activated behind a car windshield as these block UV and photochromatism is not activated. In your case, maybe I would look at a category 4 from Julbo or something very dark like the Prizm 24k or Black from Oakley, which also have no anti-reflective but are dark. They also have the Oakley snow lens with 5% vlt but I haven’t tried it and I can’t tell you how dark it is.”
