Some brands go from “who’s that” to selling out collections and being worn by A-list celebrities within a year. Once they cross the threshold from unknown to major influential fashion brand, things change.

That’s part of the Tamara Ralph brand’s story. They’ve launched their first eyewear collection and are becoming a major international fashion house.

But will it last?

The Rise (and Fall) and Rise of Tamara Ralph

The brand Tamara Ralph is named after its founder, but she’s not a new player in the fashion arena. Tamara was half of the huge high-fashion brand Ralph & Russo.

The brand was founded in 2006 and opened its flagship boutique in London’s exclusive Mayfair neighborhood. They went from strength to strength with celebrities from Angelina Jolie to Jessica Alba flocking to wear their dresses on red carpets.

What really took the brand to the next level was its award from the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. This meant they were the first British brand in nearly 100 years to show their collection at the official Paris Haute Couture Week.

Haute Couture isn’t just about making pretty dresses. It’s about creating one-off, made-to-measure pieces that show real artistry and craft. Some gowns involve thousands (yes, thousands) of hours of stitching, beading, and lacing.

It’s a real feat that attests to the talents of some of the world’s best seamstresses and artists. It’s no wonder the pieces are ridiculously expensive, because they’re like wearable art.

Usually, queens and billionaires and (rich) fashion lovers are the ones who snap up couture pieces. But Ralph & Russo also started to make ready-to-wear for the rest of us.

Why the Brand Went Bust and Tamara Ralph’s Revival

Tamara Ralph parted ways with the Ralph & Russo brand in 2021 after it began experiencing financial troubles. Ralph & Russo has filed for administration twice in the last five years and is facing bankruptcy as of 2025, so it’s not looking good.

However, since Tamara Ralph parted with her former brand, she’s reinvented herself through her new namesake fashion house, which is growing in popularity.

Recent celebrities spotted in Tamara Ralph dresses include Amal Clooney, Teyana Taylor, and JLO. This proves that the designer has the Midas touch.

She’s quickly turned her new brand into a recognizable couture house, making waves across the world of the elite.

What’s So Special About This Brand?

Ralph makes dresses that are highly intricate with complicated beading, floral motifs, and incredible construction. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill evening gowns. Instead, she’s continuing the couture tradition from Ralph & Russo into her new brand.

The overall appeal of the fashion is that it’s super-elegant, hyperfeminine, and, frankly, just beautiful. It’s not as bold and out-there as Shiperelli, or as va-va-voom as Versace. It’s also not as distinct as some other contemporary brands like Dilara Findikoglu. However, what it lacks in novelty it makes up for in quality.

Tamara Ralph’s New Eyewear Collection

This year, Tamara Ralph has released their first eyewear collection in collaboration with the brand T Henri. The capsule collection combines fine jewelry, high fashion, and eyewear design.

The ‘Moonbeam’ collection evokes the brand through its luxurious finishing touches and glamorous design. It makes sense that Tamara Ralph partnered with T Henri. They’re also known for hyper-luxury and taking inspiration from the finer things in life.

The capsule collection is all about craftsmanship. Each pair of sunglasses is timeless and can be worn for decades.

What Makes the Collection Stand Out

It feels like every major fashion label now has an eyewear line. It’s no surprise that Tamara Ralph is following suit. However, it’s a smart move for the brand to dip its toes in the water with a collaboration capsule collection first.

It’s not about mass production with the ‘Moonbeam’ collection. It’s made to reflect the unique couture designs Ralph is known for.

The sunglasses are rimless and finished with fine jewelry-inspired details, including the arms and nose bridge. The keyword here is sophistication. The collection isn’t really a quiet luxury, as it’s a little flashy and clearly made to look expensive. However, it is still elegant.

Details and Design Features

The limited-edition ‘Moonbeam’ sunglasses have lenses available in three different colors: purple (Amethyst Horizon), blue (Verdant Serenade), and yellow (Midnight Opus). The finishing details include 18k white gold, rose gold, and yellow gold. The lenses match perfectly with the hardware details for a truly expensive-looking finish.

The sunglasses are handmade in Japan. There are only 125 pieces of the blue and green lens sunglasses available, and 99 of the yellow shade. Each style is available in jeweled and non-jeweled options.

The jeweled versions are extremely rare and limited to 10 pieces. They feature hand-encrusted diamonds and precious gems.

Why Is the Collection So Limited?

Both T Henri and Tamara Ralph have commented on the new collaboration. They’ve noted how excited they are to have designed something that evokes “artistic finesse.” They said that it has resulted in a collection that’s truly about the elegance and refinement of high-quality craftsmanship and design.

It makes sense that the collection is so limited. Tamara Ralph is building her brand on world-class design, so it’s not meant to be mass-produced.

Whether she creates a more readily available eyewear line in the future remains to be seen. In the meantime, the capsule collection is available from around $1,250 for the non-jeweled versions and up to $7,500 for the jeweled sunglasses.
