Have you seen one of the biggest fashion crazes this winter? Everyone from fashion influencers to my grandmother is rocking the triangle scarf trend.

It’s a subtle yet effortlessly chic spin on traditional boring scarves, and it looks great with oversized coats, glamorous sunglasses, and a killer hat.

There are a few ways to style this epic accessory, and I’m going to show you how.

What Is the Triangle Scarf Trend?

As its name suggests, the triangle scarf trend is about triangular-shaped scarves. I know, I know what you’re thinking, “What’s the big deal?”

For the longest time, scarves have been a bit boring. Each winter, it’s the same old, same old styles.

There’s the long, slim, cashmere or wool scarf that doubles around the neck. This scarf can leave you looking a bit like you’re being suffocated.

Then there’s the silk triangle scarf. Yes, it’s glamorous and looks like something out of White Lotus in Sicily. But that’s the thing; it’s not very warm and is more of a summer trend.

Finally, we have the oversized knit scarf. You know it, you own one, maybe you even love it? It’s cozy, it’s warm, and it does feel like being cocooned in your favorite blanket. But (yes, you knew a but was coming), it’s not very chic, is it?

Now you can see why the triangle scarf trend has taken off like a rocket ship. Scarves have been an afterthought for too long. So, unless you’re in temperatures below zero, it’s time to experiment with something a little more, well, stylish.

The triangle knit scarf trend blew up in 2025, and it isn’t going anywhere in 2026. Celebrities and fashion influencers have been spotted in various versions and colors.

Here’s a list to take inspiration from.

As Seen on Dakota Johnson

One of the hottest actresses (and fashionistas) on the planet right now, Dakota Johnson, was seen out and about on a winter’s day with a triangle scarf wrapped around her head.

It’s a little Russian grandmother, maybe. But when it’s really cold, and you’re not in the mood for a hat, wrap your triangle scarf around your head like Dakota!

Styling tips:

Choose a cute winter color, like Dakota. For instance, you could go for an olive or maybe a rustic orange. Then, match it to your favorite coat of a similar texture and color. It makes it look like the two are part of the same collection, giving it a sophisticated look.

As seen on Zoe Kravitz

Zoe is the ultimate it-girl (she’s even dating Harry Styles now), so it’s no surprise that she’s jumped on the triangle scarf trend. She was seen out with none other than Harry with a blue scarf tied around her head. Unlike Dakota, she paired it with a more masculine, tailored coat for a little contrast.

Styling tips:

If you enjoy mixing and matching your fashion, take cues from Zoe and choose a pop of color like electric blue or fire engine red. It will take any dreary winter outfit from meh to magic.

Finally, Zoe paired her scarf with a pair of chic black oval sunglasses. This elegant Miu Miu pair is pretty similar and will add that finishing touch to your look.

As Seen on Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber is the queen of cool, and she is known for her clean-girl makeup and casual yet daring fashion sense. She was spotted in a gray knit triangle scarf and a matching muted outfit.

Styling tips:

If you like the preppy style, then copy Hailey’s look by pairing a long trench coat with a gray knit sweater and slacks.

She finished off her look with a pair of black rectangular sunglasses with slim frames. These edgy Prada sunglasses are similar. However, they may be even more stylish with the logo on the arms.

As Seen on Fashion Influencers

Celebrities (almost always) have stylists, so even when they’re spotted on a grocery run, there’s a good chance that someone has styled their T-shirt and jeans. Oh, to be famous.

Then you have fashion influencers. These famous-ish women often go Instagram or TikTok-famous by styling their own outfits.

These influencers have been loving the triangle scarf trend. It was seen across the fall Fashion Weeks, and the best part is that they’ve shown this scarf can be styled creatively.

For instance, Eva Chen, who’s an influencer and the head of fashion at Instagram, was spotted out and about in an oatmeal-colored scarf that she paired with a dark brown outfit.

Styling tips:

You can tie the scarf around your neck so the triangle part covers your chest, or tie it back to front so it looks like you’ve got a sweater over your shoulders. Or, of course, just throw it on so it’s left open and looks casual.

Take cues from Kendall Jenner (who I do consider to be a fashion influencer). She paired her chocolate brown scarf with brown sunglasses while at Paris Fashion Week.

You can recreate this look with these oversized Jackie O shades from Gucci, which scream glamor.

How Much Do Triangle Scarves Cost?

Okay, so now you’re hooked, and you want in on the triangle scarf trend. Now, though, you’re wondering how much you’re going to have to splurge.

Just like any accessory, triangle scarves can be really affordable or really expensive. On the lower end of the market, you’ll be able to find triangle scarves in your local H&M or Zara for around $30 or less if you find a bargain. But they’ll typically be made of polyester or a wool blend (with the main material being polyester or an acrylic blend).

If you’re looking for a scarf to cherish for years or prefer real wool and cashmere, then you could have a look at designer brands. However, these scarves can retail for hundreds of dollars, as you’ve probably guessed.

Feeling thrifty, or like to sew? You could probably find yourself a nice piece of woolen fabric and DIY it!

TL;DR

  • Triangle scarves are typically made of wool and come in different colors and sizes, though they’re often quite demure and small.
