Let’s be real; finding perfect eyewear isn’t always easy. Even if you have your ideal prescription and find glasses that look great, there are always pesky little things that get in the way of fully enjoying them.

I’m here to make your day with a top 10 list of pet peeves that people who wear glasses can relate to. Are they annoying? Absolutely! But I’ll be the first to admit that they can also be pretty funny. Ready to dive in?

1. Do your eyelashes touch your glasses?

This girl gets it, and to be fair, some guys do have equally as long eyelashes.

It’s a flex! Are you one of the lucky few whose lashes are so long they flick up against your glasses?

If you’re not, join the rest of us who religiously use false lashes and mascara. It’s not cheating, just being innovative!

2. Taking off your glasses doesn’t make you the prom queen.

Do you remember iconic glow-up movies like She’s All That? It was the quintessential ’90s and early 2000s era of rom-coms. The girl was usually a bit of a geek, but she turned into the prom queen when she took off her glasses.

The rom-coms lied. It doesn’t always work out like that in real life. But the good news is that eyewear has come a long way, and now you can find more fashionable styles than ever, so there’s no need to take your glasses off to look fabulous!

3. Keeping hair out of hinges is a constant battle!

It’s a moment we know all too well—your sunglasses are sitting on top of your head, and you want to put them on, but ouch! Your hair is trapped and tangled in the hinges!

Within seconds, your glasses have gone from a cool accessory to a tiny torture device.

The worst part isn’t the pain; it’s the destruction of your carefully created hairstyle. All that styling for nothing!

4. Ever get those pesky red marks on your nose?

Isn’t it fun to take off your glasses or sunglasses and find those red indentations on your nose that make you look like you’ve been in a fight? They usually fade after a few minutes, but it’s not a pretty sight during those few minutes.

5. Weather can be a daily challenge!

Rain, hail, or shine, the weather is an enemy of anyone who wears glasses! When it’s too sunny, it’s time to switch to sunglasses, and when it’s raining, you have foggy lenses to deal with.

You can’t even escape the weather on a beach getaway when you have humidity to cope with!

6. Face masks mean foggy glasses.

Remember what it was like wearing glasses during the pandemic? It quickly became clear that the combination of face masks and glasses = foggy glasses.

(Come to think of it, contacts probably would have been a better idea.)

7. The slip is a struggle!

It happens to the best of us—buying chic eyewear only to have your glasses slip down your nose. They never stay put for more than a minute! You just have to keep adjusting them. Of course, it’s equally frustrating when you can’t see properly.

Whether sunglasses or eyeglasses, they become redundant if they’re halfway down your nose. It may just be down to them not being fitted to your face, so one solution is to get the screws in the arms tightened. Or, you could get yourself some low bridge glasses.

8. Applying makeup can be miserable.

Anyone who wears glasses and loves makeup will get this one. You wake up and pop on your glasses to start your getting-ready ritual. It’s time to apply your makeup, so you head to the mirror.

You want to recreate that winged eyeliner look you saw on YouTube the other day, but there’s one major problem—the moment you remove your glasses, you can’t see well enough to get the job done!

9. Eyeglasses and the sun don’t always mix!

Have you ever been on vacation and fallen asleep in the sun only to wake up and, to your horror, realize that you’re red as a lobster?

It happens to the best of us. There’s even that famous picture of Kim Kardashian with her lobster tan and oversized sunglasses tan lines. (Seriously! If you don’t believe me, Google it.)

Unfortunately, tan lines also happen while wearing eyewear. The bigger the frames, the bigger the marks. I hope you have your concealer ready!

10. Midnight trips to the loo can be a problem.

How often do you wake up in the middle of the night and need to run to the bathroom or grab some water? For many of us, it’s all too frequent.

But then comes the moment of being half awake and fumbling around to find your glasses. The only solution? To turn on the big bright light and look for them through tired, blurry eyes.

It’s a real killer when all you want is to get back to sleep as soon as possible!

Which One Can You Relate To?

Men, women, glasses wearers, or sunglasses users—we can all relate to some of the trends and oopsie moments on the list! But as they say, knowledge is power, so now you can go forth and avoid becoming a meme.

Or just buy contact lenses!
